HIV/AIDS is a fast-growing, deadly global health concern and we at NCM-India are doing our part to curb it’s destructive through both preventive and prescriptive methods. Our ministries not only cater to a community’s consciousness of the HIV/AIDS but also to the needs of infected and affected, their physical nourishment and spiritual well-being as well. In some of the communties we serve that are particularly hit by the menace of HIV/AIDS we give HIV/AIDS patients the means of surivival by helping them set up small businesses and by giving them access to micro-credit. (For more details see Micro-Enterprise)
Awareness is one of the key preventive interventions that NCM-India engages in the area of HIV/AIDS. We impart awareness to church leaders/pastors/field workers within the national church through conferences and training. Awareness is also imparted on the community level through self-help groups and the CDCs. In some of our CDCs, infected children are provided nutritious food and care. Regular home visits, spiritual counseling, prayer and support is extended to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
The inhabitants of highly prevalent areas such as Bethel and New Hengkot (in North East India) and Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu are beneficiaries of NCM-India’s HIV/AIDS Ministries. All the churches in the North-East who are impacted and affected are seeking small but effective ways of addressing this pandemic. Through self-help groups, the women and youth of these communities have received some level of training and awareness about how to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.
